Molten - Malicide (2024)

With nearly three years since their last album, I was super pumped to check this out! A unique blend of traditional heavy metal with the rhythm work of thrash and the vocals of death metal, Molten comes out swinging on this release. It’s absolutely chock full of chunky riffs reminiscent of 1980s death/thrash material, but paired with guitar harmonies and soaring lead guitar work that hearkens back to the golden age of trad. Think of the following: Judas Priest + Kreator + Morbid Angel = Molten. Sounds enticing, right? Well, it is! If you’re a fan of Deceased’s similar blend of genres, I think you’d be wise to check Malicide out. Not a perfect album, but coming in around 35 minutes long, it’s just epic enough and just balanced enough to be a star-studded release for March. Really cool stuff!
