Morbid Saint - Swallowed by Hell (2024)

After nearly 35 years of inactivity (barring an archival release in 2015), Wisconsin thrashers MORBID SAINT are back! Known for their dark lyrics and intense live performances, MORBID SAINT’s 1990 album SPECTRUM OF DEATH is heralded as an extreme thrash metal classic. So, the question is: how do they hold up after almost 35 years of no new material? To put it simply, it’s a decent comeback but like most releases these days, it’s just too long at nearly 50 minutes. The riffs are cool, but not anything new, the vocals are growly and intense, and the rhythm work is solid. Overall, not a bad release, but definitely not worth the wait.
