There’s been a recent wave of blackened speed bands ever since Hellripper got somewhat big in the underground back in 2017 or so. This has miraculously made its way into South America and one of the newest bands from this scene is El Salvador’s own SATANIC PRIEST. Think of a drunken Venom mixed with a bit of Bathory, and perhaps a tiny dash of early Metallica – that’s SATANIC PRIEST. The songs are super short, averaging less than 3 minutes, giving this album a runtime of 25 minutes over the course of 11 songs – though there is a supposed version that includes a cover of Venom’s “Black Metal” which increases the length to a whopping 29 minutes (wow!!). It’s nothing amazing, but it’s a fun record and one that’s so short I can’t be bothered to not listen to it from time to time.
FAVORITE TRACKS: “Don’t Burn the Witch,” “Metal Attack,” “Wolves Among Sheep”
FOR FANS OF: Bathory, Hellripper, Gomorraa
